so i just got an old tv from a buddy a 1987 27" sony trinitron tv,problem is is that when i hook up the cable the picture shows for a few seconds then like a bar of static flashes near the top and the picture goes grey and then turns fuzzy...and there is no sound...it reapets that over and over....but what gets me is it only does that for the cable? i plugged my xbox 360 and it works perfect! the only thing i can think of is that the cable jack on the tv is broken? any suggestions? |

Yeah, if the inputs for the XBOX work... why don't you just hook up a cable box or VCR and watch TV through that? |

AJD is correct, that you can use the the AV inputs from your tuner or VCR as a workaround.
Those sony tuners are notorious for being bad. You can get a rebuilt tuner for around $30. if you know how to solder, take out the old tuner and look at the model number on it. Then get a rebuilt from tiptoptuner.com |
