On My Sony KV-32FS100 7 inches from the top of the screen there are blue, green and red lines going horizontally across the top of the screen. Also above these lines are thin white lines. Well these lines usually disappear after awhile. They fold over til they disappear but now they are staying at the top of the screen about 2 inches at the top. I have read a solution somewhere on the net to do this. Maybe the best solution is to go into the service mode and increase the vertical size - which will push the lines up and out of the way.
I can get into service mode however I have no idea where to go in there to increase the vertical size to push the lines up and out of the way? I would think I need a service manual however I have searched it online and they wanna charge you for it. Heck with that. Anyone know exactly how to walk me thru the process of how to increase the vertical size in service mode? Thanks. |

You are describing vertical foldover and if you increase the vertical size the problem will get worse, not better.
Prep note: This chassis is VERY fragile and easily damaged. please handle carefully.
Look on the chassis around the vertical IC (IC561 = printed on board.) and around HV transformer for the following capacitors, vertical first.
C565,C561 & C564 in vertical circuit and C537 and C539 in - 15 & + 12 Volt supplys.
C565 = 1-126-969-11 220UFD @ 50VDC
C561 = 1-126-967-11 47UFD @ 50VDC
C564 = 1-126-960-11 1UFD @ 50VDC
C537 = 1-126-941-11 470UFD @ 25VDC -15V Line
C539 = 1-126-941-11 470UFD @ 25VDC +12V Line
IC561 = 8-759-696-71 STV9379 Vertical Output IC
If any of these capacitors are expanded or pushed up on top they are automatically suspect. If any of these capacitors are out of tolerance they can cause your symptom. If the Vertical Output IC is leaky it can cause your symptom.
Remember, If the set operated at one time using the current sweep adjustments, the problem will be a failed component, not an adjustment.
Hope this helps

Ok. Say I open up the back of my TV and see what your describing. What would I need to do to fix this issue and how much is that gonna end up costing me? Also is it even worth fixing or should I just consider buying a new TV? |

It's not that, I am a servicing technician operating my own shop and periodically get extremely busy.
All of the components that I posted can be identified on the chassis. The schematic locations I posted are printed on the top and bottom side of the circuit board. If you do not have the equipment to check these components you could replace them all at a nominal cost but all components on this chassis are soldered in so you would need soldering skills. Also, if you do not have any electronic skills and you replace the components, it is no guarantee that you will have your set fixed as this is only the most common components to fail, and there are many many other possiblilities.
hope this helps
