Have a Hitachi 50V500A
Replaced the lamp about 6 months ago. But it was a cheap brand one for about $40.00 off Amazon.
Before the lamp was out completely and TV lamp was flashing.
This time it still works so not sure if it could be the lamp.
I recently notices the colors are off, like the skin tone of people mostly.
Does this happen when a lamp is going bad.
Should I waste the money on a new or better lamp?
Thanks |

Actually, you wasted the money on the 'cheap' lamp. |

Not our main TV and only planing on keeping it another year or so. Over ten years old and really did not plan on it lasting this long. On the used market would still not be worth much morethan a OEM lamp.
But it has been a good set, and might keep 2 or 3 years more.
But before I buy a lamp. Is this my problem?

IF the original symptom was satisfactorily 'cured' for a number of months by the 'cheap' bulb and the set now has this totally new symptom ... I'd try the OEM lamp.
That is the ONLY way you will know for sure.
But its been said before: It's your tv - your money - your call. |
