Hitachi CMP4202U , dead.

When powering on , relay click , fans turn about 15 seconds then click and shut off.

Second time powerring on , fans don't turn anymore , and relay clicks twice. Nothing else.

I disconnect the X-sus , nothing change except fans are turning longer (15 seconds each time).

This is our first Hitachi plasma we do.

I don't have s/m.

found a bulletin regarding "cmp" models from '93 in which
hitachi is stating that some of these models are not
"field" servicable - t

if I'm not mistaken most of these were actually NEC, or am I thinking of
Marantz?

in a lot of these early models you could NOT unplug the y and x boards
separately without damaging the other and then damaging the first when you
tried reconnecting it with the other unplugged - so there is a possiblity
that
if the x and/or y were not bad before, one or both ARE bad now

I know this is true of early Marantz and Pioneer, Pioneer warned of
this in there training sessions

Hi Larry

Yes the front LEDs are working , it is red , then turn green at powering on , after 4 seconds it turn red again but flashes orange every 2 seconds.

This plasma turns on , I can see the picture for about a second, then it shuts off , fans stops .

I didn't get any sound , donno if it is because the tv is not running more than a second ...

I did disconnect the sound board , same thing. no changes.

I check all voltages , they are there but only few seconds.

I have the service manual from Hitachi site.

bizarre problem , a bit lost on this one.
