Pioneer
PDP-5050sx
50" Plasma Flat Screen
I tripped the trap switch on a Pioneer PDP-5050sx and would like to know how I can reset this? The tv was originally not displaying a picture, so I took it apart with the service manual by my side. I have never worked on a pioneer and didn't know about the trap switch until it was too late. The service manual tells me to refer to another book to reset it. Please help me.
The red and green LEDs in front of the TV are on solid. It does not turn on but it will click on the fans and give me an orange LED on the power supply if I activate the service menu (display, left, up, left, right, power) with the remote.
I admit that I should have payed more attention when opening this TV, but I have only worked on Vizio and Philips TVs and they aren't sneaky like Pioneer.

1. Press the “display” button then release the “display” button.
2. Wait between 3 and 7 seconds
3. Press and release the “<”, “^”, “<”, “>”, and “power” buttons in sequence.
Panel will now turn on in “service mode”.
4. Press “muting” button 3, 4 or 5 times depending on model you are working on.
Until the display shows the “initialize” page.
5. Press and hold the “display” button until the error indicator (red LED) on
either the panel or the media receiver goes out.
6. Exit service mode by pressing the “power” button on the remote.

See page 19. PDP-5050SX is the G-5 model. |

After learning about the trap switch, I now have the same issue you did w/orange led on Panal SMPS.
Looks like my High voltage is not coming up and fails w/led on panal SMPS. What was your final outcome. Did you have to replace the panal SMPS cba to repair your set...Thanks David.. |
