I have a JVC AV-56WP74 56" big screen that I bought around 2002, so I feel fortunate it's lasted this long. Recently, the tv suddenly started showing curved red lines across the top half of the screen. I tried auto converging, nothing. I'm aftaid its something electrical, but my brother is technically inclined, so I'm looking for instructions to check where the problem is. Thanks in advance.

Your convergence ICs are failing, I can't be much more help unless you provide a model number. |

STK-392-110 is the convergence ICs that you need to replace. There should be 2. Replace them both at the same time. |

i've seen something about resistors too? that if i don't replace them too, the new IC's won't last long either? is there anything else i need to check while i'm in there? is there a diagram of the inside somewhere so i know where these IC's are?/ |

The Ics are located in the front of the set just behind the speaker panel remove the screws from the rear side of the speaker panel ( Dont forget the two small screws inside the input door then remove the speaker panel and the snall accesss panel you will then see the Convergence board right there on the right side you will notice the two large heat sinks which have the ICs mounted on them. |
