The set displays a green bow line on the bottom of the screen. The picture is still display but with the green color about 1 - 2 cm higher than a purple version. I taken a few pictures of the display but not sure how to post them. I read some of the post about replacing some chips and resisters but any help based on this particular description and part needed would be appreciated. I can email the pictures if it helps with the solution as well. |

If you want, you can email pictures to kuhurdler'at'riddledtv.com. I will post them for you.
It's definitely the convergence amps. replace the old ones (STK392-110) with part = STK392-180
search for them at mcmelectronics.com. |

Thank you so much kuhurdler for the information and posting of the picture. I replace the 2 of the STK392-110 with the original parts and my TV is working like new again. The ICs is located near the right front of the TV just behind the right speaker (if you are facing the screen). Very easy to access. |

Congratulations.
I merely recommended the 180s because they have a higher wattage capacity, and typically withstand the heat better than the 110.
But, don't worry about it. Your TV should be good to go for a long long time though. |

|

So I've been doing a little research and this posting in particular was helpful. I have a red "sag" appearing in the upper left corner of my JVC AV-48WP30 TV and after reading this and other posts, my best guess would be a red convergence failure.
I've worked with electronics before although it's been a while and I'd like to give it a shot replacing whatever IC's I need to.
Can anyone give a brief description of the process I'd undergo to replace the parts, where they're located and any other information that might be helpful? I'm about to go right now and pick up a STK392-110 IC. Should I get just one or two?
Hopefully I don't break the TV altogether (I bought it off craigslist 6 months ago) but if I do it'll be a good learning experience! |

If your going to replace one then we always replace both at the same time, saves a call back later. These are solder in ic's. Check for any discolored resistors too. |
