Howdy all...

a question about a tv-whether its worth fussing with.

My tv is a jvc hd plasma, 42". Its about 6 years old. Momma falls asleep with it on a lot, and so its probably got closer to 10 years of use on it. We are seeing some strange colors on the screen, only when its a mostly white image. I can kill the satellite feed so there's only the tv operating and see it, making me sure its in the tv. Also, when theres an image thats got anything darker than pure white, the color is wonderful everywhere. Makes me think its not in the plasma panel itself. I am pretty sure its in the receiver box, although I didnt sleep in a holiday inn express last night. I tried recording a show to vhs, and it will show on the tape, which also indicates its in the box, not the screen. (This is my only hd plasma ever, so I will risk mentioning something that y'all probably already know, there is a receiver and the plasma panel-2 components)

The question is, is this thing too old to fuss with sending in for repair? Is there any way for me to figger out what to replace and do it myself. I am not an engineer, but I am comfortable with technology.

Thanks for your help!

The correct model number for the display is PD-42WV74

You are describing Solarization.

Add a 10UF capacitor (Part# fk20X5R1E106MP6) in parallel with C5063 on the Y-Main pcb (this board is in the Display).

No Offence, but that statement is flawed logic.

Hope this helps
