|
|
i GOT THIS 60" SONY FOR FREE IN HOPE TO REPAIR. The only info I got on it was that it got error code 4. when I
pluged it in I indeed got the code 4 repeating over and over. but then I smelled something and then seen smoke.
upon feather investigation I seen capacitor C521 burned out. I'm not sure if this happened before I got it or not.
but I pluged it in again and did not get smoke this time.
when I first pluged it in I heard the tv turn and and can fill static on my hair. and then the smoke. after that no
tv electric static. but still getting the 4 code. What should I look for or should I replace? I have a multimeter
to test if need be.
Thanks,
Brian |

Where is your head/hair/toupee? Near HV splitter, flyback, CRT anode wire?
How sure are you on capacitor's location number?
Anyway "found on web:"
Q502 horizontal output transistor shorted C517 burned & shorted.
&
Found C512 (102@2KV) shorted across Collector/Emitter of Q502. |

Can you post a picture from opposite angle from the metal heat sink. Is transistor on that Q502? |
