Last night I heard my tv cycling on and off repeatedly, and i hit the power button on the remote which seemed to do the trick. Today when I attempted to turn it on, I noticed a burning smell and when I hit the power button, the little beep that signifies it is cycling on, continued for much longer than usual. Aside from the beep it appears to power on as normal except there is no picture. The buttons on the tv (input, menu, etc.) itself beep when I press them and the power light signifies it is on, but I have no image, it smells funny, and there is a faint buzzing. I primarily use this a computer monitor, and the computer no longer detects it when plugged in. I read thru some other posts, and I tried shining a flashlight on it, but I didn't see anything. Not sure if the flashlight wasn't bright enough, I wasn't doing it right, or what. Any ideas what might be wrong or if its worth fixing? I talked to a place near my house and they said around $200 plus parts. I got it from Sears Outlet for like $450 maybe 4 years ago.

The good news is that if it smells funny, it should be pretty easy to locate the charred area on the circuitboard
