LG 42LK450
Neighbor house hit by lightning. TV wont turn on. Red light on I think indicating standby. Several attempts (~50) of powering on (front panel touch power button) gets standby light to go off, but nothing else. Light reappears after disconnecting and reconnecting AC power. Other clues: Was connected to TWC box which was also damaged. The cable box would function with a different TV, but only thru the coax output and not thru the component output or HDMI (audio worked, video didn't). I have some electronics experience but would hesitate to replace board components. Rather I would be comfortable replacing boards. Thanks for any advice.

Check the power supply voltages first. Then see if it is "trying" to turn on when you press the power button. If not, I'd look at the mainboard first as the culprit.

Thanks for the help. I checked the power supply voltages. The 3.5V were all good (4 pins). The 12 and 24V were less than 100mV. I hit the power button multiple times (50+) and the other voltages suddenly came on line. The 24, 12 were right on. A new one, Pwr On was 3.3V. Seems like its the Main Board since I can get all of the correct voltages out of the Power Supply Board. Agree?

Are we trying the power button on the remote? In case buttons on the set are at fault.

I am using the touch button on the bezel. I dont have the remote here. But I can get it. The remote didnt help when the issue originally occured.
