|
|
Hello All- This LG 50LN5700-UH is 3 years old. A few months ago, noticed a dark cloudy spot in the left top section of the display when there is a light screen. The other day, tried turning on TV, sound came on and no image. I did a flashlight test and noticed there was an image, but backlights were off.
Took off the rear cover and powered up and saw all backlights illuminate. Checked the image and it was visible. Sound and Image was there (with dark spot still). I checked all wiring and everything seemed tight and the image stayed on while shaking and moving different items on the T-Con board, main board, and power supply board.
Put cover back on, had TV working for about 90 mins and then image failed again. I notice when I change channels sometimes, the image pops on for a second then stays off.
If everything seems to be tight, any other thoughts on what would cause this intermittent display issue?
Thanks to all in advance. |

You have to at least partially disassemble the PANEL, (after taking off the rear cover, of course), to observe whether each and every LED illuminates.
IF the set stays on for a period of time, go into the customer menu and decrease the Backlight Intensity. It's quite likely been at 100% (Maximum) since it came out of the box. |

Thanks for the reply. You are correct about the backlight intensity. It was at 100% when I had the video working and I lowered it down to 20%. The unit still stopped displaying video.
So, what went wrong with this set? With the backlight down lower and still not working, how do I fix this?
Thanks. |

Link in previous post. Be sure everything matches YOUR set.
Do some research(search button IN upper right corner): "lg led back" ("samsung led back") - recent results should cover majority - IF you still have questions ... |

Thanks for the assistance. I will order the LED strips and double sided tape. Luckily, there is also a video on YouTube for changing these out on this exact model, so I will have a good guide to follow. ~$65 is really not much of a cost if it brings this set back to life.
Again, thanks for your input with this issue. |

Hey JTS- Thanks again for your guidance. I have my TV completely apart and simply need to find replacement LED strips. ShopJimmy has been out for months. I see used parts on eBay that were pulled from old TVs. Any idea where I can get a full set of replacement strips for this LG 50LN-5700-UH? |
