I've got an LG 60" plasma that is about 4 year old and over the last month or so it has started to turn itself off.

after turning the TV on for the first time in the day, it'll be fine for about an hour or so. Then it will just switch itself off. after that it will stay on for anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins or longer.

After doing some research it sounds like it's the power supply board and i found the part i need on ebay. I'm pretty confident that if i order it i'll be able to replace the old one ... however i just want to make sure that's the problem since the board is $79.

My current board looks like it has some white corrosion on the a few areas but i can't tell if that's normal or not.

White is heat sink compound - normal.

seems plausible. We really can't help much without a model number.
