|
|
I have an lg RU60SZ30-LCD RP TV that I got from a friend. He said the TV worked then once in a while it would turn off, then one time it just never came on again. When the TV is plugged in, the fan comes on and the red power button lights. When I turn on the TV with the remote, the yellow light flashes and there is a click. About 10 seconds later, there is another click and the red light comes back on.
I had the bulb checked at a TV repair shop and it was OK. I checked the power supply for bad caps and everything looks good. I tested the voltage input on the ballast and it starts around 200 VDC and goes up to around 405 VDC.
Anyway, I presumed I had a bad ballast so I got another one off of eBay and there is no difference with it.
Any ideas on what the problem might be? I even bypassed the plug on the lamp by cutting the wires on the ballast and using a crimp-on connector, I connected it directly to the lamp.
I have posted this on a couple of other forums and no one replied, I hope I have better luck here.
Many Thanks,
Ian |

LEFT LED = Operation Indicator (aka - Power)
CENTER LED = Lamp Indicator
RIGHT LED = Temperature Indicator
LED COLOR choices = Red / Green / Orange
LED state choices = Flashing / Steady / Off
NOW: who's doing what? |

The power LED turns from red to a flashing yellow, then back to red. The other 2 LEDs do nothing. I do have the micro switch for the back door closed with a tie wrap.

No idea, but this is what I have been looking for, something to check out. Is this on the power supply or the ballast. Besides the main connector, the ballast only has a small 3 wire connector on the corner.
I will check when I get home later.
Many thanks for the lead.

OK, I found C820, it's a capacitor and when I measured the voltage across the pins, there is a constant 6 volts when the TV is off (the fan is running) and when I turn on the TV and the ballast clicks, it works its way up to 382 volts and then the ballast clicks again and the voltage goes down.
I am not too experienced with board level repair, but I can follow instructions and I learn fast.
JTS1957, I went to http://elektrotanya.com but you need an invite to join. Any chance you would have an invite?
Many Thanks,

Click on GET MANUAL;
Download as you would anything else you've downloaded via your browser/op system.
Are we familiar with HOT and COLD grounds in regards to referencing voltage measurements?? |

OK, I got the manual, thank you.
Hot ground is on the primary side, cold ground on the secondary. What is the next step?
