Philips 51pp9303h/17 rear projection tv. Convergence bad, not adjustable. Noticed the blue gun seems to jitter as if noise was present in the blue gun. Like a high voltage problem. Was wondering if replacing the convergence circuits would rectify the problem or am I looking at something more drastic here?

On the left side circuit board that is laying flat there are two convergence IC's that are mounted on the very large heat sinks that is on the right edge of the circuit board. Look to the front of the set portion of the board close to the edge and on the left of the heat sink and observe the light grey resistors that stand up away from the board about 1/4 inch to see if they show signs of overheating. If they do you will have to replace the convergence IC's and the damaged resistors.
Be forewarned, this gets a little messy on this model (harness and board removal) you will need torx type of tools to remove this board.

Hope this helps

I am having a typical convergence problem with my tv. I have inspected the 6.8 ohm resistors and they show no damage what so ever. Could the STK392-120 chips still be the problem?
