Hi. my first post but i have been studying the forum for a while. Very helpful

I was given this tv for free. Had a red light and chirping for awhile.
The chirping has stopped now but no picture and i think no sound.
Flyback is not going HV. I found a bulging Capacitor 470u 200v at position
2338. which is near transformer. any help on this would be appreciated.

Several possibilities, on the SSM panel, (this is the board on the left when facing the back of the set and all of the daughter boards plug into this board.), using a bright light inspect the resistors that are close to the front edge of the board (toward the front if the set) just right of center close to the large heat sink. (the aluminum looking thing with fins). They are normally light grey or brown and stand up about 1/4 inch from the board. If you find one of these resistors discolored or burnt, you have bad convergence IC's
If all if this is good, you may have a defective IHVT bad (5904) on the LSB panel (this is the board on the right with all of the large components on it.)

I am kind of betting on the convergence chips.

Hope this helps

ok. so i replaced the capacitor with no luck. i did check the resistors on ssm
and for that matter everywhere else. i saw nothing burnt or failed.
p.s. i accidentally arched from hot to 7303 Optic Coupler, CQY80NG 9338 941 50682
which is when the chirping stopped. is that an issue?

where would you suggest i get the ihvt 5904 and/or coupler 7303.

Thanks for your response..

Yes, that is an issue!!!

Since this can badly damage the power supply (an optic coupler is used to isolate the hot ground from the cold ground and bad things happen if you short them together.) You might be advised to replace the board. Here are the reasons.

The IHVT transformer (part number 312226832865) that can cause the chirping in the first place is on Back Order from MCM for 25 days and costs 94.95 and is on Back Order from Andrews Electronics until 01-10-2008 and costs 140.26.

The complete board (part number 313503710991) from MCM is on Back Order for 17 Days and costs $296.88 + Shipping and is in stock at Andrews and costs $251.88 + $50 Core + Shipping

Sources can be found Here: http://www.andrewselectronics.com and here http://www.mcmelectronics.com

Hope this helps

ok. cool. one question though. is the flyback transformer included in the part
313503710991. if so then that may be the best bet.

Yes, the IHVT (flyback) is included, the board is complete.
