I was measuring AC across a certain diode in a well working power supply circuit and the fuse blew, what could I have done wrong?

Meter defective?
Meter set to wrong function?
Meter probe connected to more than one point causing a short?
You got up?

@JTS1957, my meter was set to 200 -750 AC voltage range and the black probe was connected to cathode and red to anode. More so i had already measured two other diodes whose cathodes were connected to the positive of the filter capacitor.
