Does anyone have a schematic of the ptk169PEC chassis? I have never worked on one before... When you plug it into the wall you get about 12 small chirps from around the area of the FBT- so I am guessing it is toast? or do you think it is the HV splitter?
Also, I was planning on replacing the "infamous" CR4118, but cand find the dang diode! Where is it located on the board, Also where are C4102, C4104 and C4108? This has got to be the poorest marked board i have ever seen! I can barely make out any component numbers- weird.
I am guessing when i change the caps, diode and HV splitter it should fire up, but what do you guys think? you all have experience on the 169 chassis... I will be crossing my fingers for a reply... (dont make me hold my breath!)
Thanks - Josh

I think on this board you are looking for markings CR118 and look in the general area marked "4000". It is implied that the two combined = CR4118
They should all be relatively near the general area where the power cord connects to the board. If you can take a picture of th board, I can draw an arrow on the area where these are at. |

WOW that was quick! Thanks for the reply. I did find CR118, and C102 (I Believe)... Here is a pic looking down from the top. Feel free to mark all over it. Also, I JUST noticed one heatsink says CTC169PE, but the chassis sticker says PTK169PEC. Is this normal?

yep, completely normal for the Projection TVs to be labeled PTK instead of CTC.
It looks like the ones you circled are correct. The other caps you're looking for should be very close to those areas. |

Ok, so today i changed out the HOT , the 4 caps (c102, c104, c108, c107) changed out the IC - put the board back in, heard a POP when i hit the power button, but I see no damage, the fuse is still good.. no popped or bulging caps, nothing appears burned.. yet the set is still dead. It made the noise the first time i hit the power button, but never again, so I am guessing it was something else on the board failing, i just cant see it. |
