When you press a button on the front other than power (menu, channel) the power goes out you have to press that button to bring the power back on. The power button will not bring the power back on????? |

Buttons/switches have been known to become defective. |

just found out from my dad that the remote causes the same thing to happen, also the TV will turn itself off and on. |

If you have isolated all the switches, any one which could be sticky/oxidized, then you might be able to say the remote is causing the same thing. Only other things I can recall causing were a bad EEPROM and bad solder joint(s). |
