A friend brought me his tv. It is a RCA 27" Model F27649.
He said his wife turned it on one day and that she heard a "pop" and there is no output on the TV. He thought it might be the fuse, which I told him you don't normally hear a fuse blow.
Anyway, when I plugged it in, there was a loud squeal coming from the flyback. So I would suppose that the flyback is bad? Would that be correct to tell him?
There is no display on the screen what so ever

Good possibility. First is Horizontal Output Transistor good?

If the set is squealing, unsolder the collector of the Horizontal Output Transistor and if it stops, replace the flyback.
