Hi everyone.... great site here...I'm servicing a hc p4241w, chassis p 60A, in which I have replaced the shorted horizontal output, (J6920). The set will power up, and then shut right down, with the standby led blinking 4 times. I have no service manual to tell me what this means, and I have found a discolored resistor, (R318) whose value I cannot identify. Looks as if it overheated, but the colors of the bands are not clear enough to tell what value it was. Q402 was shorted as well, (D73-Y).does anyone know of a sub for this transistor? Closest I could find was NTE54, but I don't trust NTE subs for things like this..a lot of questions, I know, .... I will really appreciate any help.... thanks, fellow fixers |

I have seen there have been a lot of looks at the issue with the problem I posted, thanks everyone for taking a peek... I managed to get the service manual for this projo, along with several other Samsung models, the burned resistor is 4.7 ohm, and it looks like D73-Y can be subbed with a wide variety of transistors, the set still shuts down, and I have found the horizontal output transistor gets very hot, so I'm looking now at a probable shorted turn in the flyback, although it's not in the primary..I've checked it with the D. Smith LOPT tester, and the primary rings pretty good, all of the LEDs light up...I'm gonna try to find a new flyback, no luck so far...thanks again for any suggestions anyone may have... |

Does set use a high voltage divider/splitter? |

Yes it does, and I have unplugged the HV wire from the fly to the splitter, with the same result....an attempt to power up, shut down , and 4 blinks of the standby LED |
