I just came into a Samsung hcn4226w 42" rear projection tv that isn't turning on.

Supposedly its previous owner transported it somewhere and once they reached their destination it was defunct.

When the power button is pressed the led blinks 3 times. The first two short and the third slightly longer.

I've searched for some sort of service manual so I can understand what this code means but to no avail.

Anyone know what this code means or where I can find what this code means?

I have the back off but I haven't really done any poking around yet because I do have the luxury of the blinking code that could point me in the right direction if deciphered. I can say that there are no obvious red flags like a burnt resistor or blown fuse that I can see.

any ideas?

ok, so I found a service manual. I uploaded the 9mb pdf onto my website at http://altergrounds.com/HCN4226WX-XAA.pdf

problem is that it doesn't list any error codes. I'm going to start checking some common problems...

Anyone have a quick handy list for me to look into?

I have plenty of dc electrical experience and a little bit with electronics but not so much specifically with tv's.

The important thing is I know what I can't do so I'm not all that dangerous to myself, meaning I won't be electrocuting myself or cutting anything important in half.

Thanks...

Unless anyone knows where I can get the error codes so far my main suspect (at least from thumbing through google) is the convergence board.

Anyone with more experience than me have any ideas how I can test to see if the board is indeed the culprit before purchasing one for nothing?

just to continue to conversation I'm having with myself...

I'm getting a bunch of mixed signals in my research, and I'm noticing my original assessment of the blinking was wrong. It's blinking nine times in total and the intervals are pretty much normal, just not perfect.

I have found a few accounts of people getting the exact same blinking and replacing the convergence board to find the problem go away, but then I'm also seeing people with trouble upset that it is still going after they get said board.

I'm just looking for some decent insight into what may be my problem.

I've seen some troubleshooting tips but always for completely different troubles. Anyone know this tv?

finally got it to do something...

I unplugged the convergence board, waited 10 seconds, then plugged the tv in, then turned it on, and now I have one crt fired up and I can at least see something...

I guess I need to get a new board.
