I've had a 40 inch Samsung 1080p LCD HDTV for a few years. On two separate occasions within the past week, it has had a weird "blinking" phenomenon. To describe the situation in more detail, I'll be watching the TV and after a while, out of no where, the screen will start "blinking". The correct picture and blackness will take turns flashing back and forth multiple times a second. It's definitely the TV and not the cable signal because I've tried different inputs.

I believe, in both instances, it was triggered by a channel change. To try and remedy the situation, I just try turning the TV off and on again, and changing the channel. Finally, it will go back to normal.

Any ideas?

I'd check the caps in the power supply. they're known for failing.

I'm fairly handy and there was no way I was going to try that task myself and ruin my TV. A Samsung repair shop diagnosed a failed inverter card.
