Samsung T4254 42" 720p Plasma
Hello to all!
I've had this set little over 2 years and finally decided to do a firmware update about the intermittent sound filure that had been an issue with this model. Got the download from the Samsung website, put it on a USB flash-drive, and plugged it into the service port as instructed.
TV responded with download complete, will reboot TV in 3 seconds...and proceeded to do so...Only problem is, when it shut down and turned back on, it never stopped. Just keeps clicking away, on and off, on and off, no matter how long I let it try to turn on.
So I searched the web and found the widespread problems Samsung owners were having and was pretty amazed. I opened up the back and checked for blown caps but found nothing, but I replaced the cps anyway just to make sure. Fired it up and still the same...
Anything I might be missing? Nothing realy looks out of sorts on the boards... the only thing I can suspect are one of the two fuses on the power board, but I'm no professional or expert by any means...
I'd really appreciate anyone's thoughts or suggestions... THANKS!! |

I heard about this one other time, but don't know if it will work. Here's what worked that once:
leave the usb drive plugged into the TV overnight. It will continue to reboot itself over and over. eventually the one I saw was able to download the new firmware and install itself. |

I figure I'm not gonna bother with Samsung if I don't have to... I've read too much about how difficult they are to deal with and I don't have the patience or time... I've been trying the reboot with t USB drive left in the port for about 6 hrs now but to no avail... I read post on a different board about how the main board had to be replaced as the firmware update basically just fried the board
My Question is, which borad is the main board? I'll just replace it myself if I'm sure which one it is. Is there a part number located on it? If anyone knows, I could really use the info and help... thanks again!! |
