I have a Sanyo that is only two years old I feel asleep the other night and it woke me up making a Very loud buzzing sound and it looked like a sparkler going off in the back. I have contacted the company but they told me there was nothing they could do that I would have to take it to a repair shop. I can't afford to get it repaired. I can't afford to buy a new tv every two years. Could someone tell me what it might be and if I can fix it myself. |

I would like to help but I would need a little more precise description of: "It looked like a sparkler going off in the back."
To do this you need to remove the back, observe where, exactly, the arcing is occuring.
Is it coming from the large red wire hooked to the top of the Picture Tube?
Is it coming from the Transformer that the large red wire originates from?
Is it coming from inside the neck of the Picture Tube? If it is coming from inside the neck it is normally a blue to violet color.
Is it a buzzing or is it snapping?

It was a very loud buzzing and the about the back all i can tell you is it was a blue light. I unpluged it because I thought it was going to catch fire. I am scared to plug it back in and try to turn it on. |

Well jenn,
I am afraid that unless you can find the courage to follow the posted directions and answer the posted questions, I will not be able to help in any way. Repairing anything requires identifying the exact problem and and being scared to do what is necessary pretty much says you get to go out and purchase a new TV.
However, if it was indeed a "BLUE" light it is possible that your picture tube has shorted and repairing may not be cost effective. Only you can do what is necessary to find out for sure.
Sorry
