I have a Sony 27ts36 television circa 1993 that works great and the kids use to play video games on. The left front speaker makes a distorted static sound along with the audio and I would like to take a look at it but I need to know how the one piece speaker cover on the front of the set is removed.

Thanks for the information and the drawing. I would have thought they were just pushed into tabs in the front. Glad I asked before breaking the set.

That post might be relevant. There's a sound module in a lot of those era TVs that goes bad. It was put there for the Secondary audio channel (usually spanish). There's a way to bypass it by using a couple of capacitors if you don't speak Spanish.

Encompass doesn't list that model as having one.
