Sony Bravia 52" 1080p LCD TV
Model KDL-52XBR5
Chassis: FIX2

This problem developed over several months time. At first, it was only a vertical band of pink or blue color distortion/dimming and trailing on the left 1/4 or so of the screen, and if we turned the TV off for a bit, then back on, the problem would go away. But now it's expanded to the left-hand 3/4 of the screen, and it doesn't go away. I tested the picture using different input sources, with no change.
I did open up the back and checked for leaking or bulging capacitors, etc, very carefully, and I didn't see anything. I wanted to test what I'm *guessing* is the secondary power supply on the dimmed side (there are two identical boards, one on each side, which are connected to the main power supply board). I have a multi-meter, but I'm not sure exactly how to test the board. Does the TV need to be turned on to test it? Other than that, I guess maybe I just need to know which wires to touch my probes to, and what voltages I'm looking for, if I'm even on the right track.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
