I recently recieved a sony wega rear projection LCD tv. KF-60WE610 I was told about the problem the previous owner did not want to pay 900 dollars to have it fixed they bought another TV.
I have a few questions about this, What is the optical block, where is it located how hard is this going to be to repair and where do I find parts to do the repair. If any body can help I would sure appricate it. |

You were quoted a very fair price.
The part number is A-1606-010-A and it is called a light engine.
For the most part, it is not a do it yourself type of job depending on the individual.
That being said, It is available from here:
http://www.mcmelectronics.com for around $1,226.00 plus shipping and would be on BO and here:
http://www.andrewselectronics.com for $687.90 plus $1800.00 core with prior authorization required and here:
http://www.encompassparts.com for $668.51 plus $1800.00 core plus shipping.
Also if you change the light engine the question is? How old is the lamp?
They are relative expensive and do not come with the engine and have a limited lifespan.
Now, after all that, it would probably be prudent to simply buy a new tv set as that technology, in my humble opinion, should have never been released to the general public.
It was the first time that any TV set was released that was known to have a "consumable" (kind of like your printer has a consumable called ink) This set needs lamps every 6,000 ~ 8,000 hours of use.
