I have a sony kv-32s40 tv chassis aa-d2 the led just blinks constant no patern. I pulled the fusable resister 0.1 ohm and it is open. I think I am going to repalce the IC601 which is a mx0841 not sure how to test but with the fuse blown I figure that part should be bad as well. the tv was working about a week ago and then just turned off.
question. Is there an easy way to test to see if the hot is good?
Is there a list of parts that once the fusable resister is blown you would replace?
thanks.

Test IC601 out of circuit (two transistors side-by-side inside the same package) with a DVM - preferable on diode test setting (Base to emitter & Base to collector will read infinity with the test leads one way and give a reading with the test leads reversed - collector to emitter should read infinity with either positioning of the leads. With same meter, Horizontal Output transistor (in circuit) should only have one very low reading (base to emitter) - ALL other junctions as above (unless HOT has damper diodecollector to emitter).
Also resolder horizontal driver transformer pins. |

I replaced IC601 tested and the old one was bad. once I installed the new IC and replaced the fuseable resister. I also tested the hot and just happened to have ordered that as well. the old one was open. I replaced C613 2200pf 500v and a 50v 22uf. Plugged in the tv and tested. it blew the ic601 and the fuse. I then tested and one of the bridge rectifiers on the board was bad. I am not sure if now I should replace the ic601 and try again or just toss the tv. |

I don't see it mentioned in your latest post.
Did you:

Which ("one of the bridge rectifiers") is involved? If it's the one for main B plus (D602), why would IC601 blow again?
Before trying plugged in again, test for shorts across main B plus filter capacitors (C607/C608) and from collector of HOT to Ground.

Yes, are you talking about the FlyBack Transformer. I have looked and resoldered all transformers on both powersupply and main board. I will test hot again and see if it blew. do you know which cap I would check. |

The Horizontal Drive transformer is connected to the horizontal output transistor's "BASE" lead - The horizontal output transformer (Flyback) is connected to the horizontal output transistor's "COLLECTOR" lead. (Follow the foils/leads/traces)
Cap is connected across (in parallel) the "-" and "+" of the Bridge Rectifier. |

I went and found the Horizontal Drive Transformer and resoldered all of its connections. looked at H-Drive transistor it looked like it got warm. it tested bad. so I replaced that as well as three capacitors that all tested bad. I am going to order one more kit for the power supply. is there anything I should test before I turn this on again? thanks so much for your help. |

Also found these: D642 (D10SC4M), D649, D650
Repair Tips _ Sony : Kv-32s40 Aa-2d : Repeat Failure Of Mx0841 And R607
it came in with ic601 mx0841 and r607 .10ohm/1/2w blown. Replaced and blew them again.
this time I checked and replaced ic1701-tda6108jf video out and R553 .47/1/4w near flyback
along with ic601,r607. set is working great. art
Less common: Bad Flyback, CRT shorted. |

I have replaced the following parts.
IC601 MX0841
R607 .1 OHM 1/2 WATT
C613 2200PF 500V
IC1701 TDA6108JF
Q502 2SC5148 Horizontal output Transistor
T501 Horizontal Drive Transformer
D649 Diode
D650 Diode
2sc3209lk Horizontal drive Transistor
Now when I turn on the tv I still get the red led blinking constant no pattern. and just sound. Is there any other parts I should look at. seems like there is no high voltage. I did notice a switch on the main board. I might have bumped this switch, but not sure if this could cause this.
thanks for the help. |

Well at least you're making progress.
Switch is probably for "centering."
Recheck soldering on IC1701 and make sure it's getting B-Plus (200-ish volts) on pin 6.

Have you read yet?: http://www.techlore.com/article/15444/Understanding-Sony-Television-Blinking-Codes/
You may have a CRT that's very weak in emission (Previous mention CRT possibly "shorted," now proven NOT the case).
Picture may flash on for a moment and then off just by letting the set play awhile. Could also try SLOWLY rotating the Screen control down and up about 45 degrees of rotation - Mark a reference line so you can return it to the original starting point. If picture comes on at any point, it's proof enough for me.
