I have had this TV since 1992 so its not like it hasn't done well.
Sound works fine. Picture tube seems fine as I can see the displays resulting from commands from the remote control (volume settings etc).
However the screen is dark. This should not be an issue with incorrect settings etc as the picture does occassionally come on for a few seconds, then go dark. Also I did not recently change anything in the setup.
As the picture tube itself seems fine, and since the picture does appear for a few seconds now and then, it seems that the TV is simply unable to properly receive video input (apparently the command displays follow a different path than the input video data). The issue is identical between the cable TV input and the VCR (great sound, no picture except for a few seconds now and then). If this were a computer, I would initially try replacing the video adaptor card.
As the TV weighs 101 pounds, I admit it might be time to replace it. But if I wanted to repair it, any thoughts on what is wrong?
Thanks for your time. |
