My Sony Trinitron kv-2093R is stuck on channel 8. I need to get it down to channel 4 in order to watch cable TV.

This TV was old and I got it after my old roommate didn't want it anymore.
Several months ago it started changing my channel when I started the TV to the upper 20s or into the 30s, I'm not sure what channel it was. I had to move the channel down by hand to channel 4 and the buttons aren't very responsive.
A few nights ago, when channeling down to 4, I messed a little bit with the "add" and "erase" buttons (and possibly other buttons on the front of the tv). I believe this may be the cause of my trouble. Whenever I hit 'channel down' the tv acts as if it is changing the channel, but it stays on channel 8. Maybe I erased every channel from my TV?

Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

EXACTLY!

Key in the channel desired on the remote (may or may not have to hit "enter"), (even a "Universal" remote programmed for this set will do), then press "ADD" on the set.
Repeat until all desired channels are installed into sets memory.
Then DON'T press "Erase" on the set anymore.
