the screen on my technika 40-270 is cracked and needs replacing does anyone know were i can get a new lcd panel for it. also some advice on swapping the panels over as i have done this with laptops but i have never done this with a tv is it the same? in anyway.

IF tecknika can't point you to it, most likely is a lost cause.

Considering the cost of new panels is generally more than an equivalent whole new tv, if you really want to repair this set the best thing I could advise is to look on ebay either under the set model number or the panel mfr. & part number. But this is a risky option also as you could be buying a panel with a bonding problem not to mention what could (read would!) happen to a bare panel in a couriers careful hands...

For what its worth I'd put the set on ebay since no doubt somebody will want the PS & t-con boards etc out of it, & put the cash towards a replacement.

As far as swapping the panels goes if you do decide on that route, its pretty much as per laptop but with more room to work & all the electronics are attached behind the panel instead of within the laptop case so they need to be unscrewed to access it, mind the ribbon cables & dont play with the CCFL backlight while its powered up & you should be ok
