TOSHIBA 35a44 Chassis no. TAC 426. The TV volume started to go to 0 all by it self. When this happens the function stays active as if I'm commanding "Volume Down" ,(Remote or panel buttons),and no other functions are allowed. From time to time it will stop commanding volume down and will allow you to turn the volume up and as soon as you release the command the volume returns to 0 by itself, also the TV eventually stopped doing this for a couple of weeks. All was fine, then back to this problem and then it wouldn't turn on at all. After having it unplugged for awhile and looking at the board looking for burnt components, bad solder joints, and visually obvious problems, the TV now turns back on and I am back to my original problem. I have cracked open the TV and have read your procedure on how to discharge the tube and I will attempt this. (fingers crossed)

check that volume-down button on the circuit board to make sure it isn't faulty.

IF remote receiver is NOT on the same board - unplug the front panel keyboard. If problem is no longer there - bad board! Wink
