Appears to be 'solarized' to me. Usually caused by a bad tcon board (or by a wanna-be technician setting a parameter(s) in the Service Menu to the 'wrong' value(s).) (Wrong Model I.D., Panel Options, etc.) Since OSD is unaffected, I'd tend to go with the second cause.
Note:
In case initialization by setting wrong MODEL ID is done, there is a possibility of abnormal display.
But to address your stated concerns:
The following key entry during display of adjustment menu provides special functions.
CAUTION: Never try to perform initialization unless you have changed the
memory IC.
"RCUT" selection 1 button
"GCUT" selection 2 button
"BCUT" selection 3 button |

This is specifically why laymen should stay out of TV repair.
Your set according to YOUR picture is a 37" (37XV556D in Picture ... 37XV555D in Forum Subject, but are same). Your TV should be Model ID 02.
Your TV is currently set to Model ID 01 (for a 32" set) - 32" and 37" set have two different screen sizes.
I'm presuming that someone there already knows how to enter into the Service Menu area. The information I already posted should allow that person to initialize the memory data by changing the Model ID. |
