Hello, this is my first post here and i would appreciate it if anyone can help me with this problem. I have a toshiba 40ft2u1 and recently a thin black horizontal line appeared towards the right side of the screen about 3/4 up. The line is about 12 inches long and 1/16 thick. The line also comes and goes away. The tv is almost 4 years old. I changed the hdmi cable and the comcast box and it still shows up sometimes (especially after the tv is on for a couple hours). I run my xbox through component and I could still notice it sometimes. Sorry about the long post and thank you for your time.

Horizontal lines almost always indicate a defective LCD panel (screen). It's possible you have some a loose tab bond on your panel.
If so, it would be very difficult to identify where the loose connection is since it only happens after a long time.
