I just wanted you to know that I am new to the idea of repairing a tv instead of tossing it and getting a new one. I have always been good with my hands but I had thought you couldn't fix tvs after they did away with tubes. I now know other wise. after looking around on line I got an idea of what it would take to fix this set. I bought a soldering iron and then went to radio shack and bought the caps I thought I would need. (c301 c305 c308) then I got to work. I don't have much practice soldering but I gave it my best. I used the iron to melt the old caps out. I don't know if thats the right way to do it but it worked. I then soldered in the new caps, I was doing good till I got to the last one.(c301) I guess the iron was to hot I'm not sure but I dameged the boared at that spot. I was about to give up when I thought about something I read one this page about jumping on cracked boards so thats what I did. after it was all said and done I pluged in the set thinking it would not work at all but I was worng the set now works fine. thank you for this page if it wasn't for the info that set would know be in the landfill.
