Hi,

I have a 36AF43 Toshiba tv that will not turn on, no sound no nothing. I tested the power outlet so i know that works. I live in a rental place and someone left it so I do not know the history of it. The manufacture date is 2003. Any suggestions on how i might fix it would be helpfull. I am comfortable with taking the back off but do not know what to look for. I tried a universal remote and punched in all the codes for toshiba and nothing, in case the power button on the front is not working.

Toshiba CRT 36" tv
36AF43

Thanks in advance for your help.

How are your troubleshooting skills? Measuring/testing voltage/parts, etc. will likely be required.
Start with looking for blown fuses, missing power supply voltage(s). Burnt/broken parts. Cool

My trouble shooting skills are ok, i work as tech support in call center for cell phones. However i have only played around with voltage and resistence measuring, don't know too much about them. I am going to open the back of the tv up tomorrow on, the weekend and see if i can see any blown fuses, burt or broken parts. Will let you know what i find, thanks.

sorry it took a while reply
it was actually the fuse that was the issue
it had a 10amp mini fuse and I could not find that in any store
had to go to a tv repair shop and the guy was surprised it had a 10 amp fuse saying that it is very high. he gave me a 8amp fuse which seems to be working
thanks for your help
