I have a Toshiba model: MW24FN3R. When I use the remote, or push the button on the set itself, it makes a solenoid switch noise like it is coming on, then one second later it shuts itself off. Will not come on and stay on. I was told that it is probably a bad deflector board. Would you agree, and if so, how do I replace the board? |

Your VCR deck is jammed or has a broken lever. You can try to manually cycle the deck by turning the worm gear on the loading motor and if you hear a click try turning the set on to see if it will stay on. (you must shield the deck from ambient light prior to turning it on) If the set comes on and stays on their can be several reasons. However there are also several options on this unit. If you do not want to use the VCR again simply tape over the deck's video tape input and proceed to use the set. If you do want to use the VCR, the simplest repair is to replace the deck. The part number is AD302086 and is available here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action and here: http://parts.andrewselectronics.com/search/parts.aspx
The price is around $120.00
When you turn the set on your VCR must initialize (the system control must determine what position the mechanics are in) and if this process cannot be completed the set will shut off. Hence the click sound when you turn the set on.
Hope this helps
