I got this LCD as a "you can have it if you want to try to fix it" pickup. I tend to be the recipient of a lot of this type of "charity".
It wouldn't turn on, the green light on the front just blinked in a weird pattern. Classic symptom of a bad power supply.
Opened it up and found qty 2 x 1000uF 16V electrolytic capacitors that were bulging in the corner of the power supply. Switched them out and and it is working good as new.
Nice Display, this is one of those that has multiple vga inputs as well as a DVI input. I'd guess it was top of the line when it was new back in 2006.

Just wanted to say thanks. This tip is still a classic. My 2006 ViewSonic VP930b LCD monitor went into the green LED blink mode yesterday. Sure enough, the same two caps have bulging rounded tops. In the process of warming up the soldering iron.  |

It took longer to find parts locally. But once in hand, the repair worked. I'm back to dual monitors again. |
