Greetings!

I moved across the country and had an older television shipped to my new address. The shipper did a bad packing job and apparently did some damage to the TV: it doesn't turn on. It's an old model from the early 80s: Quasar UP2133TW, 10" I think Quasar became Panasonic? So might be similar in some respect, not too sure on that one. I opened up the unit in the back and found the problem. The "cathode" is broken, or at least I think that's what it's called. I've attached a picture of the damage becuase I don't know the exact term. The screen and everything else looks fine. Only the glass bulb is broken. I know these TVs are a dime a dozen now, but this one has mega sentimental value, and would piss off a lot of people if they found out it was broken. It's a complicated situation, at best. What I'd like to know is whether the TV is repairable, and if so, how much the associated costs would be. Any help you can offer is much appreciated.

you'll have to replace the whole CRT... which I would consider impossible to source due to the age.

So, did the breaking of that little glass dome effectively destroy the entire vacuum tube?

I'm not certain the seal has been broken. But it looks like it to me.

video display corp in LA might be able to rebuild the tube or have a replacement.
