I have a Vizio p50hdtv10a sound and video only seems to work on component. The video is all scrambled when I put a dvd in I can see that things are changing on the screen when played and when I hit the menu button I can see something comes up but its hard to make it out. All the colors seem to work just cant make anything out. All voltages check out I replaced the Y board but seems to do the same thing. When its on every other input i get a big blue line in the middle and no sound. When I hit the input button sometimes I get a green line on the left side for a few seconds then goes to the blue line in the middle. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jefe

Hi, I have a couple Q's I hope someone can answer...

I have the 2007 vizio vp50hdtv and have already replaced 10 bad caps on the power board. It doesnt go off immediately like it did before, but now displays error codes via blinking red light on front cover. ( 9 blinks) .
The 4-bar of indicator leds( in the back control board) light up only 3 on startup then goes to one or two that stay on.. When I heat the caps and board up with a heat gun, the lights change to the 2nd and 4th on now not just the 2nd. ( remember the screen has no response, and no sound still) This is viewing from back of tv w/o cover. At times the 2nd and 3rd stay lit, never the first.. What would these codes point to? More bad caps on the power board ( because it changes when heated) or other things like the y sus board etc? I know that this could be a problem with these tv's Mostly the Y sus board. The buffer board could be it, but I doubt it .

The tv is definitely on, I can hear it hum. Just have no response on the screen or sound. I have checked all the outputs power on the power board, and they all read the proper voltage. I don't want to buy a Y-sus board on a whim that it may be the prob either.

is your tv a 10a or 20a? why are you heating the caps up? It could be a couple things. When you say you dont have any sound did you try all the inputs cause I found that I have sound on only one of the composit inputs but nothing else. I found out that it was my logic board i am also getting a messed up picture on only the composit. So you should check all of the outputs from your Y board and if those are all ok then look at your logic board. it could be your buffer boards but usually you see something on the screen if one of those only go bad. I hope it helps.

sorry I forgot to put down 10a. I have tested the output power on the powerboard and it tested good as far as correct voltage. I was heating the caps slightly to test if any more where bad. ( its a old technique used to trick a bad cap into working. )

Im not sure how to properly test the y-sus and x-sus boards.. Any tips are welcome.... Cool ..
The screen is not coming on, but I can hear the electronics power up. When turned on, it doesnt trip the reset relay anymore, since I replaced the 10 visibly bad caps.
I just dont want to spend money aimlessly on guessing what parts are bad and which aren't.
